Raspberry Pi unveiled the beta of its 64-bit version of its Debian-based OS alongside its then new 8GB Raspberry Pi 4 in mid-2020. The first Raspberry Pi with a 64-bit processor was the Pi 3, so it’s been possible to run a 64-bit OS since its 2016 release, but Raspberry Pi stuck with a 32-bit OS (then called Raspbian) for compatibility between devices dating back to 2011. Until now, Raspberry Pi owners needed the imager on a macOS, Windows or Ubuntu desktop to install the OS on a Pi device. It could also be done via another Pi device by connecting SD card readers on each of them. The new Raspberry Pi bootloader delivers network installation, cutting out the need for a second computer to install the OS. Raspberry Pi’s makers have released the network installer as a beta and are seeking feedback from users about the experience of installing the OS onto a blank SD card from the network....

The streaming media provider said it is launching an app that enables Shopify customers to build, buy and measure TV streaming ad campaigns. A study published by the Worker Info Exchange (WIE), a campaign group advocating workers’ rights to the data held on them by employers, warned that gig workers were being subjected to unfair profiling and discrimination by automated systems that aimed to “maintain exploitative power” over them. A technical cooperation agreement has been signed between airport operator Infraero and state-owned technology company Serpro to carry out the implementation. The decision follows trials that had been taking place since 2020 involving over 6,000 passengers traveling between the Congonhas and Santos Dumont airports.
