Qualcomm’s non-GAAP diluted earnings per share in Q4 came to $2.55. Revenue was $9.32 billion, up 43% year-over-year. Wall Street was expecting earnings of $2.26 on revenue of $8.86 billion. For the full fiscal year 2021, Qualcomm’s non-GAAP EPS came to $8.54 on GAAP revenues of $33.6 billion. “As of fiscal 2021, we are exceeding our 2019 Analyst Day targets for revenue growth and diversification and operating margin expansion, while more than doubling our year-over-year Non-GAAP EPS,” CEO Cristiano Amon said in a statement....

ENISNA, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, has released the latest edition of the ENISA Threat Landscape (ETL) report, which analyses cyber-criminal activity between April 2020 and July 2021. It warns of a surge in cyber criminality, much of it driven by the monetisation of ransomware attacks. Although the paper warns that many different cybersecurity threats are on the rise, ransomware represents the ‘prime threat’ faced by organisations today, with a 150% rise in ransomware attacks during the reporting period....

Cyber attacks had been increasing in volume over the last few years and this past year was no exception, NTT’s chief cybersecurity strategist Mihoko Matsubara said in an interview with ZDNET. The Ukraine war also had prompted questions from organisations in Japan about how it would impact the cyber threat landscape, said Tokyo-based Matsubara, but noted it was difficult to determine if there was a direct correlation between the ongoing conflict and growing number of cyber attacks....

The Transparent Inter Process Communication (TIPC) module has been designed to facilitate intra-cluster communication across Ethernet or UDP connections and is capable of service addressing, tracking, managing communication between nodes, and more. This protocol is implemented in a kernel module package with major Linux distros. On Thursday, SentinelOne researchers said that CodeQL has been used recently in bug hunting investigations on open source projects. CodeQL is a semantic code analysis engine that allows users to query code “as if it were data,” and it was this tool that allowed the team to find a severe bug in the TIPC module project....

Chainalysis provides data, software, services, and research to a variety of organizations in over 60 countries, including government agencies, exchanges, financial institutions, insurance, and cybersecurity companies. Robinhood Crypto will be using two pieces of software called Chainalysis KYT and Chainalysis Reactor. Chainalysis KYT will help the company flag “risky and illicit transactions in real-time, while Chainalysis Reactor enables deeper due diligence into suspicious activity.” Ben Einstein, head of partnerships at Robinhood Crypto, said Chainalysis works closely with regulators and law enforcement to “develop industry best practices, and that approach is aligned with Robinhood’s commitment to working with policymakers in a collaborative manner....

The South Korean tech giant was responding to the foundation’s Reinvent the Toilet Challenge that started in 2011, which aims to develop cost-effective toilets that can deliver inclusive sanitation services without the need for sewage treatment systems. The company’s advanced research arm Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology had been working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since 2019.
